"A SPECIAL WORD FOR PASTORS

We Would Like To Come Alongside Pastors & Their People ...

To Help Husbands & Wives Strengthen Their Marriage

To Help Dads & Moms Raise Responsible, Well-Trained Children, Who Are Growing In Godly Character And Conduct

To Encourage Believers Through Teaching, Music, & Christian Hospitality

Do you feel "overwhelmed",  perhaps need some assistance, or just want to encourage your people?

We have over 20 years of ministry experience working personally with couples and families.  We realize the challenges you have in helping the families in your congregation.  Our work is to both give families a place to come and refresh and also to be a resource and source of encouragement for pastors

We have just about seen it all as far as marriage, family, and child-raising is concerned. We know where husbands & wives and dads & moms (those you are trying to minister to) are--and how to help them get to where they want to be.

We are available for conferences and seminars.   We have served as LifeWay Fall Festival of Marriage Conference faculty for a number of years, and have had the joy of teaching, encouraging, and being encouraged by, good folk from all over our land.  We have seen the benefit of a purposeful, well-targeted meeting offering "on target" help which addresses  'real issues of life'.

"I am writing this letter to express our personal pleasure to have met you as a family and to have briefly served God with you. You have heard it before--you are a remarkable family with a heart for God. How I pray you will continue to be an example of godliness as a witness to all. We returned to our home grateful to you all for your authentic love for the Lord Jesus and asking God to bless your home." --SBC Evangelist & Missionary to the Ukraine

Our family can also bring encouragement and help uplift your people through music. (Senior adults and families especially enjoy this!) We have spoken, sung and played  at churches, associational, MBCB, and various community events.  Pam & the older children also sing with the United Voices of Praise, a community chorale group which emphasizes the "classical/sacred" style of music.  We can offer your folks over an hour's  worth of uplifting, joyful music, all played on acoustical instruments.  Selections range from gospel, to hymns, to worshipful pieces, to wholesome "inspirational" and folk music.  We can combine these with testimony, teaching, or preaching, as you deem appropriate. You can be assured that this will be wholesome, spiritually uplifting, and free from any self-promoting showmanship.

Lastly, through a "mini-retreat" here, the Lord may give you and your wife the rejuvenation you've been seeking!

"Thanks for sharing your family and talents with us! Everyone enjoyed it! A wonderful way to praise God." --A FBC Minister of Music

Would you like to know more about us?

We realize that if you don't know us personally, you need to know a bit more about our background, and perhaps check out some references. We can provide you with references and resume if you call us.  We have been a part of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL, where Brad was a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and we were both part of a newly started, and very encouraging, young marrieds program there.  As a naval officer, he worked closely with numerous young adults, and saw that the greater needs were not vocational issues, but personal, spiritual, marital, and family concerns, confirming the need for sound, applicable, Christian counsel and instruction in the 'real areas' of life! The Lord blessed, and it was during this time that a call to ministry was ascertained.  At Dr. Vines' encouragement we investigated and moved to the Memphis area and Brad attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating summa cum laude in 1988.  While at seminary, we were at Bellevue Baptist Church, Brad working part-time at Bellevue under the young marrieds minister, and also teaching a large class.  Pam was part of the Women's Prayer Ministry, too.

After seminary, Brad was called to Colonial Hills Baptist in Southaven, MS, where he established the Family Resource and Counseling Ministry.  For over ten years, he counseled up to 20 appointments per week and taught up to five different classes per week as the church grew from 500 to 2000+ in attendance.  He worked not only with the church's congregation, but referrals, both local and from the extended area, the churched, 'other-denomination churched', and the non-churched, ranging from inquirers to agnostics to antagonists, from 'good folk' to deeply troubled folk.  He has experience in  marriage, pre-marital, family, parenting from infants to adolescents, personal, budgeting, abuse, and spiritual counseling.

Brad also has served as an adjunct instructor at Mid America Seminary where for six years he taught graduate level, and portions of some doctoral level, courses.  For one year he did a live radio program, also. During this time he was able to gain further training through seminars and conferences offered by the Institute of Biblical Counseling, Institute in Basic Life Principles, Christian Financial Concepts, and affiliation with the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Needless to say, Pam has a wealth of insight, wisdom, and practical guidance that any young wife or mother could glean from.  In fact, she probably holds some sort of record for "Most Times Asked, "How do you do it?""!    A former Miss Florida Finalist, Pam served as Red Cross field director at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL, has been awarded the Mississippi Full-Time Homemaker of The Year by Phyllis Schlafly and Eagle Forum, and has been listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

When the family moved to Shepherd's Rest in 1994, there began a steady flow of people out to their country homestead, to visit, for  fellowship and refreshment, and for personal counsel.  Many a time a couple would reiterate how a visit to our home provided much need answer, example or clarification to the situations they found themselves facing. It was out of this that our Shepherd's Rest was born.  We have been privileged to serve at three outstanding churches, each of which has led their states in baptisms.

In 1999, with our children ranging from 13 down to 3, we became more 'home-based'.  It had been our desire, even since the mid-1980's, to eventually have a homestead place where we could offer ministry extended through our family to other families, churches, individuals, and groups. For these past few years we have served in a smaller  family-based ministry, provided marriage and family guidance,  worked on our land and properties, acquired and tended to our livestock and equipment, and have done renovating and construction projects.

We have 'business world' experience in management, personnel, administration, and operations We are members of First Baptist Church, Senatobia where we serve in the teaching and music ministries. Our older sons and daughter have been active in the music program and the BSU at NWCC, too.

What are our objectives in Christian ministry?

-Teaching, and applying, the Scriptures with insight, clarity, and compassion

-Providing sound, appropriate biblical counsel and direction for couples, families, and individuals
